How long does the All-on-4 procedure take? +
The surgical placement of the implants is typically completed in one appointment. From your initial consultation through final prosthetic placement, the full process generally spans several months to allow for proper healing and integration — but in most cases you leave the day of surgery with a provisional set of teeth in place.
Is the procedure painful? +
Patients are given local or general anesthesia during the procedure, so the surgery itself is comfortable. Dr. Schaumberg is licensed in all levels of anesthesia. Post-operative discomfort varies but is typically manageable with prescribed pain relievers and over-the-counter methods.
How long do All-on-4 implants last? +
With proper care and maintenance, All-on-4 implants are designed to last a lifetime. The prosthetic teeth may need adjustment or replacement over time, but the titanium implants themselves are built for longevity.
Am I a good candidate? +
Most patients who have lost most or all of their teeth — or have failing teeth from gum disease, decay, or trauma — are candidates. The advantage of All-on-4 is that implants are placed strategically in areas of maximum bone density, often eliminating the need for separate bone grafting. The only way to know for sure is a consultation with 3D imaging.
Can I eat normally with All-on-4 implants? +
Yes. Once fully healed, patients can enjoy a wide variety of foods — including many that are difficult or impossible with traditional dentures. We recommend caution with extremely hard or sticky foods, but otherwise you can eat normally.
